After our inspiring visit to Kenya last November, today was finally the day: Dietmar, Tim, and Max, had the pleasure of welcoming our Kenyan friends here in Brandenburg. Visiting us are Professors Alice and Jasper, as well as three students – Naftali, Frederick, and Edgar.
In the morning, Tim and Max made our way to BER Airport to personally receive our guests. After a warm welcome and collecting their luggage, we headed straight to Brandenburg, where Professor Wikarski was already waiting at the accommodation. Together, we checked into the hotel. After a quick look at the rooms, we walked over to the cafeteria of the Brandenburg University of Applied Sciences, where we enjoyed lunch together in a relaxed setting and had the chance to get to know each other better.
After lunch, Dietmar gave our guests a brief tour of the campus. A highlight of the visit was the stop at the Computer Science and Media building, where the group also met Professor Schrader. Afterwards, our guests had some time to settle in and rest at their accommodation.
In the evening, we all gathered again for a classic German experience – eating Döner. Unfortunately, we couldn’t quite convince them to try a Kebap, and they decided to stick with what they already knew. After dinner, Alice, Jasper, Tim, and Max headed home, while Dietmar took the three Kenyan students on an evening stroll through Brandenburg’s historic old town, ending at the “Jahrtausendbrücke”.
Thus, the first day came to a close – a warm and welcoming start to what promises to be a meaningful and inspiring week.
